The Scouted Hub: What have we been up to?

In case you haven’t noticed, we at The Scouted Hub have been a bit quiet in terms of our outward engagement. Conversely, we’ve actually never been busier. So we figured it was about time to let everyone know what we’ve been working on the past 6-12 months.

Obviously, the COVID pandemic had a significant impact on businesses worldwide and especially world football. Even TSH was not immune from the effects of COVID. And while we continued to deliver for our clients, we also felt this was the perfect time to take a step back, relook our initial strategy, and focus on what we truly believe we do best and what the current marketplace needs.

As a result, we’ve made some exciting changes that we think will take The Scouted Hub to a new level. The first thing we’ve done is refine and restructure our portfolio of products to match our customers’ demands better. Our products always remain fully customised for our clients, but we think the array of products gives a much better idea of our capabilities and how we can help professional organisations. We’ve updated our website to reflect our new portfolio and would love any feedback you would like to give us. As always, if you have any question, The Scouted Hub is happy to walk you through the products, how they are produced, and how we can work together in partnership to make a positive impact on your business.

We also quickly realised in going through our product assessment that we could use additional expertise in product delivery as well as in forging our overall business strategy. So yes, we have added a few more members to our TSH family.

We welcome our new Head of Strategy, Ryan Williams. Ryan has over 20 years of experience in government and commercial financial management, analysis, systems development, audit, business transformation and process improvement. He holds multiple Masters degrees in International Business, a CPA, scouting credentials from the FA and PFSA, and a USSF D-License. Ryan currently resides outside of Washington, DC, and is also our expert on North American football (soccer).

We also welcome our new Head of Technology, Soumyajit Bose. Based in New York state, Soumyajit is a popular figure online and can be seen regularly posting data visualisations to his Twitter account. Soumyajit holds a Masters degree from IIT Kanpur and is currently working towards a PhD in Physics from Cornell University. His other interests include sketching animated GIFs of Lionel Messi making defenders look foolish, and strumming the ukulele pretending to be a musician. He describes himself as the Sergi Roberto of his Sunday league team – a midfielder by trade, regularly plays as a full-back and fills in wherever the team needs a man.

Beyond our new team members, we also made some changes to our organisational structure. While we are all football fanatics at heart, we’ve refined roles and responsibilities for several of our directors so that they can focus on the things they do best and ensure our delivery is more efficient than ever. That has involved formally establishing heads of Product, Business Development, Scouting, Analysis, Data Science, and Strategy.

In the upcoming months, you will also probably notice a bit of a different look to The Scouted Hub. We will be producing more content, including sharing our insights on the industry and our experiences with our many partners.

We’ve also secured investment capital to help us upgrade some of our internal infrastructure to improve the quality of our products, delivery, and day-to-day firm management, which is not always easy when you have team members scattered across the globe. Regardless, it gives us all more time to focus on doing what we do best - providing unique and useful insights for our clients and audience on the wonderful world of football.

We are also delighted that The Scouted Hub has been selected as finalists for the Rising Stars award at the Wales Start-Up Awards.

In conclusion, if you can’t tell by now, we are all pretty excited about our direction. We have never been more confident in our business. We believe our value proposition has never been stronger. The Scouted Hub will continue to bring cutting edge insight to all aspects of the football industry using our worldwide viewpoint and our ability to produce easy to understand products and content. We also promise our current and prospective clients that we remain true to our commitment to partnership and transparency. It is still and always an honour and a privilege to do what we do.

We look forward to hearing from you and hope you are as excited as we are about TSH.
